Hello! My name is Sam Valasek. I am a Portland-based artist & illustrator with a background in mental health occupational therapy.

My work celebrates the simple joys of earnest engagement in everyday activities. With hand-drawn lines, pops of color, & silly characters, I enjoy helping others savor moments of contentment & delight.

When I incorporate fantasy elements, I highlight the quieter moments of the big adventure - the cozy pockets of time in which characters connect with themselves, others, & the thing that is bigger than themselves.
